Who they are, where they came from

Andy Kim serves as the junior United States Senator from New Jersey, having taken office on December 9, 2024. Prior to his Senate service, Kim represented New Jersey's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2019 to 2024. Before his elected career, he worked as a diplomat. During his House tenure, Kim voted in favor of S.2228, the Building Chips in America Act of 2023, a vote that placed him against the majority of his party. In the Senate, Kim has sponsored legislation across areas including veteran affairs, national service, child nutrition, and government accountability, and has introduced amendments (SAMDT.1644, SAMDT.2817) that were considered on the Senate floor.
