Who they are, where they came from
Ashley Hinson is a U.S. Representative serving Iowa's 2nd congressional district, a position she has held since January 3, 2021. The district, which was numbered the 1st district during her first term, covers much of northeastern Iowa, including Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Dubuque. Before entering Congress, Hinson worked as a journalist. Her legislative record spans maternal and child health, agricultural policy, contraception access, child care, and trade enforcement. She sponsored the Maternal and Child Health Stillbirth Prevention Act of 2024, which was enacted into law (HR.4581).
