Who they are, where they came from

Austin Scott represents Georgia's 8th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he has served since January 5, 2011. He is the longest currently serving Republican in Georgia's congressional delegation. Before his election to Congress, Scott served as a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives. He sponsored H.R.6983, a bill to designate a United States Postal Service facility, which was enacted into law, and H.R.8322, legislation to extend surveillance authorities under title VII of the FISA Amendments Act of 2008, which also was enacted into law. Scott has also sponsored H.R.7120, the Purple Heart Freedom to Work Act, and H.R.2345, the Ocmulgee Mounds National Park and Preserve Establishment Act, both of which have been referred to committee.
