Who they are, where they came from

Betty McCollum represents Minnesota's 4th congressional district, which centers on St. Paul, and has served in that role since January 3, 2001. She is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party and is the second woman elected to Congress from Minnesota. Since 2021, she has served as the dean of Minnesota's congressional delegation, following Representative Collin Peterson's loss in the 2020 election. Her legislative work spans environmental protection, Indigenous affairs, disability rights, and human rights, including sponsored legislation on PFAS chemical regulation (HR.8016), wilderness and water quality protections for the Boundary Waters (HR.588), advance appropriations for Indian programs (HR.5328), and human rights conditions related to U.S. foreign assistance (HR.7545).
