Who they are, where they came from

Brad Finstad represents Minnesota's 1st congressional district, a section of southern Minnesota along the Iowa border, having taken office on August 12, 2022. He is a member of the Republican Party. Prior to his federal service, Finstad served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. His legislative record in Congress reflects consistent engagement with agricultural policy, rural infrastructure, and workforce issues. He sponsored the American Workforce Empowerment Act (HR.329), which attracted between 50 and 99 cosponsors, and has introduced multiple bills directed at the agricultural sector, including the FARMER Act (HR.3283), the Producer and Agricultural Credit Enhancement Act of 2025 (HR.1991), the Farm Credit Administration Independent Authority Act (HR.1063), the USDA Express Loan Act of 2026 (HR.7426), and the Farm and Food Cybersecurity Act of 2025 (HR.1604). He also sponsored the LAST ACRE Act of 2025 (HR.3212), a bill directing the Secretary of Agriculture to publish criteria for reviewing certain requests (HR.5106), the Conservation Reserve Program Modernization Act (HR.6388), and the Protecting Infrastructure Investments for Rural America Act (HR.502). He also voted against the Billie Jean King Congressional Gold Medal Act (S.2861).
