01 · Background

Who they are, where they came from

Brian Kevin Fitzpatrick is a U.S. Representative serving Pennsylvania's 1st congressional district, which encompasses all of Bucks County and a portion of Montgomery County north of Philadelphia. He has held this seat since January 2017, when the district was designated the 8th district; it was renumbered the 1st district in 2019. Before entering elected office, Fitzpatrick worked as an attorney and served as an FBI agent. In Congress, Fitzpatrick has sponsored legislation across a range of policy areas. He sponsored the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2023 (HR.715), which addresses firearm transfer procedures. He introduced the PAST Act in both the 2023 and 2025 sessions (HR.3090, HR.1684), targeting horse soring practices. His Puppy Protection Act, introduced in 2023 and again in 2025 (HR.1624, HR.2253), addresses commercial dog breeding standards. He has also sponsored the Protect Our Letter Carriers Act in successive sessions (HR.7629, HR.1065), addressing mail carrier safety, and the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025 (HR.2548), which pertains to sanctions policy. Additional sponsored measures include the MODERN WIC Act of 2025 (HR.1464), the KO Cancer Act (HR.3873), the Mental Health in Schools Excellence Program Act of 2025 (HR.3534), and the Saracini Enhanced Aviation Safety Act of 2023 (HR.911). One sponsored measure, designating a postal facility in his district, was enacted into law (HR.5476).
