Who they are, where they came from

Bruce Westerman represents Arkansas's 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, a seat he has held since January 2015. He is a forester and politician who previously served in the Arkansas House of Representatives, including as majority leader. In Congress, Westerman has sponsored legislation related to federal lands, forest management, and natural resources, including the EXPLORE Act (HR.6492), which was enacted into law, and the Fix Our Forests Act (HR.471), a reintroduced measure in committee with broad cosponsorship. He has also sponsored the ESA Amendments Act of 2025 (HR.1897), which proposes changes to the Endangered Species Act, and the Focus on Learning Act (HR.1275). On appropriations, Westerman voted against several continuing resolutions that became law, including HR.7463, HR.9747, and HR.2872. He also voted against final passage of the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 (HR.82) and the Billie Jean King Congressional Gold Medal Act (S.2861), both of which became law. Multiple amendments he introduced in the 118th Congress were agreed to by the House, including HAMDT.151, which passed by recorded vote of 407 to its opposition, and HAMDT.611, HAMDT.541, and HAMDT.153, each agreed to by voice vote.
