Who they are, where they came from

Charles (Chuck) Edwards represents North Carolina's 11th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, having taken office on January 3, 2023. A member of the Republican Party, Edwards previously served in the North Carolina Senate, where he represented the 48th district from 2016 to 2023. His sponsored legislation has addressed immigration enforcement (H.R.611), election administration (H.R.7356), unemployment insurance integrity (H.R.1119), and economic development in distressed communities (H.R.2292). On final passage votes, he voted against the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 (H.R.82) and against the Billie Jean King Congressional Gold Medal Act (S.2861), both of which became law.
