Tenney has spent time focused on a few core fights. Each is tied to bills actually introduced or votes actually cast.
01
Supports guaranteed caregiver access in care facilitiesTenney has sponsored the Essential Caregivers Act in multiple Congresses. The most recent version, HR.6766, would require Medicare- and Medicaid-certified facilities to allow patients to designate an essential caregiver who may not be denied in-person access. The 2024 version, HR.8331, carried the same core provisions. Both bills attracted more than 100 cosponsors.
02
Supports extending the New Markets Tax CreditTenney sponsored the New Markets Tax Credit Extension Act in both the 118th and 119th Congresses (HR.2539 and HR.1103). The legislation would make permanent a federal tax credit designed to attract private capital investment to low-income communities. Both versions were referred to committee and drew substantial cosponsor support across party lines.
03
Opposes consolidated appropriations packages as passedTenney voted against final passage of three appropriations measures that became law: the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (HR.2882), the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025 (HR.9747), and the Building Chips in America Act of 2023 (S.2228). In each instance her vote was recorded against the majority position of her party.
04
Supports federal workforce performance accountability measuresTenney sponsored the Federal Employee Performance and Accountability Act of 2025 (HR.201) and the Implementing DOGE Act (HR.199), both referred to committee. These bills address the performance management and accountability structures governing federal employees. She also sponsored the PACE Act (HR.2900), a reintroduced measure with related federal workforce implications.
05
Addresses election administration and foreign policy through legislationTenney sponsored the Promoting Free and Fair Elections Act of 2025 (HR.4823) and the End Zuckerbucks Act of 2024 (HR.7319), both concerning election administration. On foreign policy, she introduced HCONRES.7 condemning Iranian human rights abuses, HRES.106 addressing United Nations Security Council actions, and HRES.176 encouraging the European Union to issue a terrorism designation.
