Who they are, where they came from

Dan Sullivan serves as the junior United States Senator from Alaska, a seat he has held since January 2015. A member of the Republican Party, Sullivan is also a Marine Corps veteran and attorney. Before entering the Senate, he served as Alaska Attorney General from 2009 to 2010 and as Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources from 2010 to 2013. In the Senate, Sullivan sits on committees with jurisdiction over armed services and foreign affairs matters, areas reflected in his legislative record. He sponsored the PRO Veterans Act of 2025 (S.423), which was enacted, as well as the Save Our Seas 2.0 Amendments Act (S.216), also enacted. He sponsored the Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act of 2025 (S.556) and the Stop the ICC Act (S.493), both targeting international bodies and foreign actors. Sullivan has also introduced legislation related to military compensation (S.876, S.5646), Alaska-specific land and veterans issues (S.785), and natural resource development (S.1035). On confirmation votes, Sullivan voted in favor on PN.743 and PN.155, both high-profile nominations decided by narrow margins. Sullivan was born on November 13, 1964.
