01 · Background

Who they are, where they came from

Frank Joseph Pallone Jr. represents New Jersey's 6th congressional district, a seat he has held since 1988. The district covers a north-central swath of the state, including New Brunswick, Edison, Woodbridge Township, Perth Amboy, Sayreville, Piscataway, and Asbury Park. Pallone serves as the ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, a panel with jurisdiction over health care, energy, telecommunications, and consumer protection. He is a lawyer by training and a member of the Democratic Party. Pallone's legislative record spans health care costs, pharmaceutical pricing, public health infrastructure, and environmental protection. He sponsored the HEARTS Act of 2024 (HR.6829), which was enacted into law. On pharmaceutical pricing, he has introduced the Lowering Drug Costs for American Families Act in multiple sessions (HR.6166, HR.4895). He has also sponsored the Family Vaccine Protection Act (HR.3701) and the Protecting Free Vaccines Act (HR.5448), both addressing vaccine access and coverage requirements. On energy and the environment, he sponsored the COAST Anti-Drilling Act of 2025 (HR.2881), which would place restrictions on offshore drilling. He has introduced the National Flood Insurance Program Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2025 (HR.5484), relevant to his coastal and flood-prone constituents. Additional sponsored measures include the Secure Space Act of 2025 (HR.2458), a resolution calling on the Secretary of Education to engage stakeholders on a specific education matter (HRES.1045), and legislation to redesignate facilities at Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park (HR.249). He also sponsored a resolution condemning Azerbaijan's blockade of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh (HRES.108).
