01 · Background

Who they are, where they came from

Glenn William 'GT' Thompson Jr. represents Pennsylvania's 15th congressional district, a seat he has held since redistricting took effect following the 2018 election; he was first elected to Congress in 2008 representing Pennsylvania's 5th congressional district. A member of the Republican Party, Thompson has served in the House since January 2009. Since 2023, he has chaired the House Agriculture Committee, a role from which he has advanced legislation affecting agricultural programs, including sponsoring the GO Ag Act (HR.4945) and the GIVE MILK Act (HR.4742). In 2025, Thompson became the dean of Pennsylvania's congressional delegation following the defeat of Senator Bob Casey Jr. His legislative record reflects sustained engagement with workforce development, having repeatedly sponsored resolutions supporting Career and Technical Education Month (HRES.110, HRES.993, HRES.1063) and bills addressing counseling for career pathways (HR.4965) and cybersecurity workforce preparation (HR.7885). He has also sponsored measures addressing healthcare workers and first responders (HR.6543), Medicare orthotics and prosthetics coverage (HR.4475), federal prison oversight (HR.4355), and orphan well remediation (HR.1217). On a recorded vote, Thompson voted against the D.C. Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium Campus Revitalization Act (HR.4984), which became law, placing him in opposition to a majority of his chamber.
