H. Morgan Griffith is a lawyer and Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Virginia's 9th congressional district since January 5, 2011. The district encompasses most of rural Southwest Virginia, including the New River Valley and the Virginia side of the Tri-Cities. He is a member of the Freedom Caucus. In the 118th and 119th Congresses, Griffith sponsored the HALT Fentanyl Act (H.R.27; H.R.467), legislation aimed at controlling fentanyl analogues under the Controlled Substances Act.
