01 · Background

Who they are, where they came from

Harold Dallas Rogers has represented Kentucky's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 1981, making him one of the longest-serving members in the chamber's history. He is a member of the Republican Party. Following the death of Representative Don Young in 2022, Rogers became the dean of the House of Representatives, a designation held by the longest-serving member. Prior to his congressional career, Rogers worked as a lawyer. He sponsored H.R.4079, a reauthorization of the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program, which would extend a program providing loan repayment incentives for health professionals who serve in substance use disorder treatment and recovery settings.
