Who they are, where they came from
Jared William Huffman is a lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 2nd congressional district, a seat he has held since January 2013. His district spans the North Coast of California from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Oregon border. Before his election to Congress, Huffman served in the California State Assembly representing the 6th district from 2006 to 2012, where he chaired both the Assembly Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee and the Assembly Environmental Caucus. He was elected to Congress in 2012 with more than 70% of the vote, defeating Republican nominee Dan Roberts.
In Congress, Huffman has sponsored legislation across coastal and ocean protection, wildlife conservation, public lands, water resources, and education funding.
