Jennifer L. McClellan serves as the U.S. Representative for Virginia's 4th congressional district, a seat she has held since March 7, 2023. She is an attorney and member of the Democratic Party. Before entering Congress, McClellan served in the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 71st district from 2006 to 2017, and then in the Virginia State Senate, representing the 9th district from 2017 to 2023. In 2021, she ran in the Democratic primary for governor of Virginia, losing to former governor Terry McAuliffe.
