John Hoeven is the senior U.S. Senator from North Dakota, a seat he has held since January 2011. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the 31st Governor of North Dakota from 2000 to 2010, and worked in banking prior to his time as governor. In the Senate, Hoeven has sponsored legislation covering a range of topics including water resources (S.4040), energy policy (S.1485), agricultural credit (S.899), and federal land management in North Dakota (S.1084, S.722). He has also sponsored measures related to Air National Guard personnel (S.489), rural health care (S.3908), and agricultural program reform (S.1693).
