01 · Background

Who they are, where they came from

Lois Frankel is a lawyer and Democrat who represents Florida's 22nd congressional district, a seat she has held since 2023 after previously representing it from 2013 to 2017. Between those periods she served the adjacent 21st congressional district from 2017 to 2023. Before her congressional career, Frankel served seven terms in the Florida House of Representatives and two terms as mayor of West Palm Beach. In the 118th Congress she sponsored H.CON.RES.97, a resolution recognizing the significance of equal pay and the wage disparity between women and men — a measure she has reintroduced across multiple Congresses (HCONRES.21, HCONRES.81, HCONRES.22). She also sponsored HR.764, the Global Health, Empowerment and Rights Act, and has introduced legislation addressing veterans' education (HR.6358), maternal health connectivity (HR.4977), and tax treatment for survivors (HR.1306).
