Who they are, where they came from

Marco Rubio serves as the 72nd United States Secretary of State, a position he has held since January 21, 2025. He also serves concurrently as acting national security advisor. Rubio is an attorney and member of the Republican Party who represented Florida in the United States Senate from 2011 to 2025. During his Senate tenure, he sponsored legislation including the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom Reauthorization Act (S.3764) and the Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary of National Significance Act of 2024 (S.50), both of which were enacted into law. He also introduced amendments in the 118th Congress, including SAMDT.4, SAMDT.523, SAMDT.1237, and SAMDT.1694.
