Who they are, where they came from

Mark Alford has represented Missouri's 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 3, 2023. He is a member of the Republican Party. Before entering Congress, Alford worked as a television news anchor. In the House, he has sponsored legislation addressing agricultural recognition (HRES.1086), religious freedom concerns related to China (HR.5838), restrictions on foreign land ownership in the United States (HR.3618), rural small business development (HR.1590), education policy (HR.1648), and domestic biomanufacturing (HR.4832). He voted against three continuing appropriations measures that became law, each time in opposition to the majority of his party (HR.2872, HR.7463, HR.6363).
