Mark E. Amodei is a lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 2nd congressional district, a seat he has held since winning a special election in September 2011. He is the dean of Nevada's congressional delegation, a distinction he has held since 2019, and is the delegation's only Republican member. Before his time in Congress, Amodei served in the Nevada Assembly from 1997 to 1999 and in the Nevada Senate from 1999 to 2011. He also chaired the Nevada Republican Party from 2010 to 2011. In the 119th Congress, Amodei has sponsored legislation addressing Nevada land use and conservation (H.R.2317), the material composition of U.S. coins (H.R.1278), veterans' benefits presumptions (H.R.1400), and the U.S.-Canada relationship (H.Res.152). Two amendments he introduced in the 118th Congress were agreed to by voice vote (HAMDT.998, HAMDT.1025).
