Mark Kelly is the senior United States Senator from Arizona, a seat he has held since December 2, 2020, and a member of the Democratic Party. He is a retired astronaut and naval officer. In the Senate, Kelly has sponsored legislation across several policy domains, including domestic semiconductor manufacturing (S.2228, S.3301, S.5002), maritime industry capacity (S.1541), water rights settlements for Arizona tribal nations (S.953, S.3617), and water infrastructure (S.570, S.5439). He sponsored the ACES Act of 2025 (S.201), which was enacted, and the Building Chips in America Act of 2023 (S.2228), also enacted. He has introduced legislation addressing military family health care (S.2448), nursing workforce development (S.131), school safety funding (S.1752), rural postal and delivery services for seniors (S.3718), and the establishment of Chiricahua National Park in Arizona (S.3715). Kelly has also sponsored a bill to enhance the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program (S.767) and a measure governing subcontractor protections in water infrastructure projects (S.570). On a high-profile confirmation vote decided by a margin of fewer than five votes, he voted in favor of PN.343, a vote that placed him against the majority of his party.
