Michael Baumgartner represents Washington's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, having taken office on January 3, 2025. A Republican, he previously served as a member of the Washington State Senate, representing the 6th district from 2011 to 2019. He also served as the 28th Spokane County Treasurer. In 2012, he was the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democratic incumbent Maria Cantwell. Before his elected offices, Baumgartner worked as a diplomat. He was born on December 13, 1975.
