Who they are, where they came from

Mike Johnson is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 56th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, a position he has held since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he represents Louisiana's 4th congressional district and is in his fifth House term, having first taken office in January 2017. Before his election to Congress, Johnson worked as a lawyer. As Speaker, he presides over the House and manages its legislative agenda.
