Who they are, where they came from

Nathaniel Quentin Moran represents Texas's 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, a seat he has held since January 3, 2023. An attorney and member of the Republican Party, Moran previously served on the Tyler, Texas city council representing the 5th district and as county judge of Smith County, Texas. In the House, Moran has sponsored legislation on a range of topics, including border security (H.R.445), immigration enforcement (H.R.3781), trade policy related to forced labor (H.R.1724), patent rights (H.R.1574), rural infrastructure (H.R.4239), workforce development (H.R.2380), community investment (H.R.3458), and a proposed balanced budget constitutional amendment (H.J.RES.110). On appropriations votes, Moran voted against multiple continuing resolutions that became law, including H.R.5860, H.R.6363, H.R.7463, H.R.2872, H.R.9747, and H.R.82, in each instance casting a vote against the majority of his party.
