Who they are, where they came from

Rosa L. DeLauro represents Connecticut's 3rd congressional district, based in New Haven, and has served in that seat since January 3, 1991. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Since 2013, following the retirement of Senator Joe Lieberman, she has served as the dean of Connecticut's congressional delegation. Her legislative record spans more than three decades and centers on issues including family economic security, workplace policy, child safety, and access to health services. In the current Congress, she has sponsored legislation addressing the child tax credit (HR.2763), paid family and medical leave (HR.5390), equal pay (HR.17), paid sick leave (HR.7531), and firearm safe storage requirements (HR.1564). She has also sponsored measures related to mental health services in schools (HR.4253), early cancer detection (HR.6182), child labor protections in agriculture (HR.3335), worker scheduling practices (HR.6786), food safety administration (HR.6567), and workforce training (HR.1783).
