Who they are, where they came from

Russell William Fry is a lawyer serving as the U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 7th congressional district since January 3, 2023. In the 118th and 119th Congresses, Fry has sponsored legislation covering federal transparency, crime victim relief, and law enforcement, including the Grant Transparency Act of 2023 (HR.5536), which was enacted into law, and the Trafficking Survivors Relief Act (HR.4323), also enacted, which addresses criminal record relief for trafficking survivors. He reintroduced related legislation in the 119th Congress (HR.1379). Fry has also sponsored the Targeting Child Predators Act of 2025 (HR.3537), the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act of 2025 (HR.2255), and the Chinese Spy Balloon Assessment Act (HR.934). He voted against multiple continuing appropriations measures, including HR.6363, HR.2872, HR.9747, HR.7463, HR.2882, and HR.5860, as well as against the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (HR.2882) and the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 (HR.2670). He also voted against the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 (HR.82), the Building Chips in America Act of 2023 (S.2228), and the Billie Jean King Congressional Gold Medal Act (S.2861). A post office facility in his district was designated under HR.6188, which he sponsored and which was enacted.
