Scott DesJarlais is a physician and Republican politician representing Tennessee's 4th congressional district, a seat he has held since January 2011. The district spans East and Middle Tennessee. Before entering Congress, DesJarlais practiced medicine. In the House, his voting record on appropriations measures includes repeated votes against spending legislation that passed with majority support, including votes against the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024 and Other Extensions Act (H.R.5860), the Further Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act, 2024 (H.R.6363), the Extension of Continuing Appropriations and Other Matters Act, 2024 (H.R.7463), the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (H.R.2882), and the American Relief Act, 2025 (H.R.10545).
