Who they are, where they came from

Sean Casten represents Illinois's 6th congressional district, which covers southwestern Chicago and inner southwestern suburbs including Downers Grove, Wheaton, Lisle, Orland Park, and Western Springs. He has served in the House since January 3, 2019, and is a member of the Democratic Party. Before entering elected office, Casten worked as a businessman. His legislative record in the House spans energy policy, environmental regulation, family leave, financial consumer protection, aviation safety, and electoral access. Sponsored bills include H.R.7977, a measure addressing high energy bills; H.R.6747, the Clean Electricity and Transmission Acceleration Act of 2023; H.R.603, the Reinforcing the Grid Against Extreme Weather Act of 2025; and H.R.752, the Methane Emissions Mitigation Research and Development Act. He has also sponsored H.R.770 and H.R.5222, both relating to family leave for education support professionals, as well as H.R.4096, the Financial Empowerment and Protection Act, and H.R.4124, the Restoring Judicial Separation of Powers Act.
