Who they are, where they came from

Sharice Davids is an attorney, former mixed martial artist, and U.S. Representative serving Kansas's 3rd congressional district, a seat she has held since January 2019. The district encompasses most of the Kansas side of the Kansas City metropolitan area, including Kansas City, Overland Park, Prairie Village, Leawood, Lenexa, and Olathe. In the 118th and 119th Congresses, Davids has sponsored legislation across several policy areas, including maternal health data collection (H.R.3320, H.R.8080), mental health services for LGBTQ+ individuals (H.R.3850, H.R.3757), family planning access (H.R.2762), food supply chain affordability (H.R.7589), employment flexibility for ABLE account holders (H.R.4644), and recognition of Indigenous peoples' experiences (H.RES.794). She also sponsored H.R.3910, addressing parental choices in healthcare coverage, and H.R.828, related to service and veterans. On the floor, she voted in favor of S.2228, the Building Chips in America Act of 2023, a vote recorded against the majority of her party.
