Who they are, where they came from
Shelley Moore Capito serves as the senior United States Senator from West Virginia, a seat she has held since January 2015. A member of the Republican Party, she previously served as the U.S. Representative for West Virginia's 2nd congressional district from 2001 to 2015. She is the daughter of Arch Alfred Moore Jr., who served three terms as West Virginia's governor and six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the Senate, Capito has sponsored legislation addressing cardiac rehabilitation access (S.717), historic tax credits in rural communities (S.631), and reentry programs for formerly incarcerated individuals (S.1843).
