Who they are, where they came from

Stephanie Irene Bice represents Oklahoma's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, a seat she has held since January 3, 2021. She is the first American of Iranian and Pakistani descent elected to Congress. Before her election to the House, Bice served in the Oklahoma State Senate, representing the 22nd district from 2014 to 2020. A member of the Republican Party, her legislative record in the House spans consumer protection, federal land and energy policy, national security, agriculture, and regulatory reform. She sponsored H.J.Res.24, a congressional disapproval resolution that was enacted into law. Her sponsorship activity includes reintroduced measures addressing fertility fraud (H.R.451, H.R.8295), foreign land ownership restrictions (H.R.1184), natural gas permitting (H.R.1281), federal regulation reduction (H.R.377), and agricultural and national security concerns (H.R.7153). She has also introduced amendments that were agreed to by voice vote in the 118th Congress (HAMDT.660, HAMDT.1127).
