01 · Background

Who they are, where they came from

Steve Womack represents Arkansas's 3rd congressional district, which encompasses northwestern Arkansas including Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Springdale, and his hometown of Rogers. He has held the seat since January 2011, succeeding John Boozman, who left the House to run successfully for U.S. Senate. Before his election to Congress, Womack served as mayor of Rogers. He is a member of the Republican Party. In the House, Womack has sponsored measures related to radio broadcasting performance royalties, poppy seed food safety, veteran telemedicine access, and a proposed constitutional amendment relating to congressional authority over spending. He voted against H.R.82, the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023, which subsequently became law, a vote that went against the majority of his party.
