An attorney and Republican, Moore previously served as Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2025, making him one of the longest-serving speakers in North Carolina history. He first won election to the state House in 2002, representing the 111th State House District encompassing Cleveland County, before being elected to the U.S. House.
