Who they are, where they came from
Todd Young serves as the senior United States Senator from Indiana, a seat he has held since January 2017. A member of the Republican Party, Young previously represented Indiana's 9th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was elected to the Senate in November 2016, succeeding retiring Republican Dan Coats. Young became Indiana's senior senator in January 2019 following Joe Donnelly's departure. From 2019 to 2021, he served as chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He was reelected in 2022.
