Who they are, where they came from

Tom Barrett represents Michigan's 7th congressional district, a seven-county area that includes Lansing, and has held that seat since January 3, 2025. Before serving in Congress, Barrett was a member of the Michigan Senate from 2019 to 2023 and the Michigan House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019. His background includes service as a U.S. Army officer and work as a financial analyst. Barrett is a member of the Republican Party.
