Who they are, where they came from

Troy A. Carter Sr. represents Louisiana's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, a seat he has held since May 2021. Carter is one of two Democrats in Louisiana's congressional delegation. Before his election to Congress, Carter served in multiple levels of Louisiana government: as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, on the New Orleans City Council, and as a state senator representing Louisiana's 7th Senate district. In Congress, Carter has sponsored legislation addressing postal service designations, school nutrition, mental health workforce, transportation security, and radiological detection programs.
