Who they are, where they came from

Val T. Hoyle represents Oregon's 4th Congressional District and has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 3, 2023. Born February 14, 1964, she is a Democrat serving a district that encompasses much of southwestern Oregon. In the 118th and 119th Congresses, her legislative work has spanned public lands, wildfire policy, financial regulation, and workforce issues. She sponsored H.R.2839, legislation amending the Siletz Reservation Act to address hunting, fishing, trapping, and related rights, which was enacted into law. She has also sponsored H.R.3576, the AIR PUMP Act, and H.R.4295, the Wildfire Resilient Communities Act, addressing air quality and wildfire preparedness respectively. On the floor, she voted against H.R.2670, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024, a position that differed from the majority of her party.
