Who they are, where they came from

Victoria Spartz represents Indiana's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she has served since January 3, 2021. Born in Ukraine, she became a U.S. citizen and built a career as a businesswoman before entering politics. She previously served in the Indiana Senate, representing the 20th district, before winning election to Congress. Spartz is a member of the Republican Party and declined to receive Republican committee assignments. Her sponsored legislation includes H.R.9775, a bill to designate a United States Postal Service facility, which was enacted into law. In the area of healthcare, she has sponsored H.R.3021, the Empowering Patient Choice of Medical Care Act, and H.R.3020, the Addressing Anti-Competitive Health Care Contract Clauses Act, both of which have been reintroduced and referred to committee.
