Who they are, where they came from

William Richardson Timmons IV represents South Carolina's 4th congressional district, which covers Greenville, Spartanburg, and their surrounding suburbs in the state's Upstate region. He has held the seat since January 3, 2019. Before serving in Congress, Timmons worked as a prosecutor and served as an Air Force officer. He previously held elected office as a South Carolina state senator from 2016 to 2018. In the House, his voting record includes several instances of voting against final passage of continuing resolutions and omnibus spending packages that became law, including votes against H.R.5860, H.R.6363, H.R.7463, H.R.2872, H.R.9747, and H.R.2882. He also voted against the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 (H.R.2670) and against H.R.82, the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023, both of which became law. On the sponsorship side, Timmons has introduced H.R.324, the PPP Shell Company Discovery Act, and H.R.4431, the Improving Capital Allocation for Newcomers Act of 2025, both of which have been referred to committee.
